THE VIRTUAL SPECIALTY 2004

Introducing our judge

Mrs. Linda Scanlon

Linda spent her early years in the Scottish/English border country surrounded by English Springer Spaniels which her father trained for field work.  During college in northern California, she "borrowed" an Alaskan Malemute and a Weimaraner which she trained in obedience.  After graduation and a move to NYC, she acquired her 1st conformation dog, an Australian Terrier, a breed she maintained for the next 20 years showing them to bench, obedience and field titles.  She also showed them in Europe during a return stay there.

Salukis entered her household over 30 years ago and also have been awarded titles in multiple fields including the 1st two utility titled salukis (out of 5) in the US and the only salukis so titled in Canada to date.  One was a multiple group, all breed high in trial & best in field winner & several have been Will Judy/Dog World Award winners in obedience.  She has also bred 2 salukis who have obtained their tracking titles as well as multiple titled salukis and specialty winners.  Linda has also taken the opportunity to free course her salukis on the wiley Minnesota jacks before their disappearance.

Linda is currently approved to judge obedience, rally, all hounds & the group, 1 terrier, Best in Show, junior showmanship and lure coursing.  She is the only judge in the world approved to do conformation, lure and all obedience and has had the pleasure of judging many specialties around the world, including sighthounds in the UK, Sweden, Australia, New Zealand and Canada as well as being chosen twice by her peers to judge the Saluki Club of Am.  national specialty.
