Understanding the Sloughi (Standard/ Morphology)
New mosaic by Nancy Lovelady (Arts)

January 1 2016 marks a potentially very sad day for the Sloughi
as it becomes recognized by the American Kennel Club through the American Sloughi Association

The chances are this wonderful breed will undergo the same type of changes that other breeds have suffered from before
Preserving the genuine Sloughi will mean to pay close attention to what happens to the breed within the AKC parent club

Thankfully the Sloughi has long been recognized in the USA by the United Kennel Club and other show circuits
and for performance events by the National Oval Track Association (NOTRA)
the Large Gazehound Racing Association (LGRA) and the American Sighthound Field Association (ASFA)
all independent of AKC
Thanks to the efforts of members of the Sloughi Fanciers Association of America

Author on this website, Dr. Bernd Fritzsch was elected
Member of the German National Academy of Sciences, the Leopoldina, in recognition of his scientific achievements.
Dr Fritzsch is already a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science

The Association for the Support of North African Sloughis (ASNAS)

Added the true history of the Sloughi in the USA (History)
Added text and photos about the Sloughi Moussem in Marrakesh, Morocco 2008 (North African Efforts)
