Elli yajrih esloughi yejrih moulah
Traduction littérale:"La distance que court le sloughi doit courir son propriétaire"
Explication: Ce proverbe insiste sur le côté sportif de la chasse au sloughi. En effet, le chasseur lève le gibier, le sloughi se met à courir derrière le gibier jusqu'à ce qu'il l'attrape. Le chasseur doit faire la même distance, évidemment pas avec la même vitesse, car le sloughi n'est pas un chien rapporteur. Cependant, s'il est dressé à rapporter, il le fait.
The distance that the Sloughi runs must his owner run
Meaning: This proverb insists on the sportive aspect of hunting with Sloughi. In fact, the hunter flushes the game, the Sloughi chases the game until he catches it. The hunter must do the same distance, evidently not with the same speed, because the Sloughi is not a dog who fetches. However, if he is trained to fetch, he does.

Traduction littérale:"Lorsque je vois le sloughi à long pas, une crise d'asthme s'empare de moi"
Explication: Devinez qui parle! C'est bien évidemment le chacal essoufflé par le sloughi.

Arra'fatou bidhi'bi dholmon lilkharouf   new
Traduction littérale:"Avoir pitié du loup,c'est tyranniser l'agneau".On entend chacal par"loup" en Tunisie.Les chasseurs utilisent ce dicton pour justifier la chasse du chacal.Je vous renvoie à la fable de Lafontaine"le loup et l'agneau" et à sa morale:"la raison du plus fort est toujours la meilleure".Si le chacal est plus fort que l'agneau,le sloughi,lui,est de loin plus fort que le chacal.
"To pity the wolf is to tyrannise the lamb". By Wolf one means Jackal in Tunisia. This saying is used by hunters to justify hunting the Jackal. I am referring you to the fable by Lafontaine "the Wolf and the Lamb" and its moral "the reason of the strongest is always the best". If the jackal is stronger than the sheep, the Sloughi, himself is by far stronger than the jackal.

Le ventre dans la poitrine pour indiquer que le ventre du sloughi doit être bien relevé et la poitrine profonde.
Dicton typique du sud marocain.
The belly in the chest, to indicate that the Sloughi's belly must be well tucked up and the chest deep.
